Vernita Hill Presented Debby Reynolds Award

Mildred Poole and Melissa Burroughs from the Enrichment Fund for Guilford County Schools present the Debby Reynolds Award to CTE Engineering teacher Ms. Vernita Hill and Principal Mr. Frederick Sellars.

Vernita Hill, CTE Engineering teacher at Ben L. Smith High School, was presented with The Debby Reynolds Award for her advocacy for children in need. Ms. Hill works tirelessly to foster leadership and innovative thinking in her students while ensuring that financial hardships never prevent a student from participating in educational opportunities. Ms. Hill serves on several school-wide committees that make it possible for her to become familiar with many students and determine when they need additional resources to put them on the path to success–which she then makes sure they receive, always following up to provide encouragement. In the words of her nominator, “Mrs. Hill is more than a teacher; she is a mentor, advocate, and lifeline for many students at Ben L. Smith.”

The Board of the Enrichment Fund for Guilford County Schools was pleased to be able to present Ms. Hill with the Debby Reynolds Award of $500 for Ms. Hill’s personal use and $700 in her honor for Ben L. Smith High Scool.
