Ayers Foundation Service Grant

The Ayers Foundation has generously provided funding for grants to facilitate service learning in the Guilford County Schools. Applications may be submitted by teachers or presidents of student service clubs in order to purchase the materials needed for a proposed service project.

General Information
Grants are available for all grades of Guilford County Schools.

Grant applications for up to $300 may be submitted by a teacher on behalf of several classes; grant applications for up to $200 may be submitted for an individual classroom; and grant applications for up to $100 may be submitted by the president of a student service club with written approval from the teacher advisor.

Grant applications from student clubs must be submitted only by school-recognized service clubs and cannot relate to projects intended to affect, directly or indirectly, the beliefs of the recipients of the service.

Funding priority will be given to proposals that actively engage the most students.

Examples of purchases that could be made for projects include: gardening tools and seeds to create a school or community garden; bins for a school recycling campaign; poster board and markers to publicize service projects; bins for clothing or food donations; the fabric or yarn needed to make stuffed animals, blankets, or other items for people in need; trinkets and small prizes that can be used as incentives for a reading buddies program; food to make meals for the homeless; materials to make cards for veterans, military personnel, or seniors.

Grant money may not be used to reward students for providing the service. If a school-wide campaign is organized with an incentive offered (e.g. an ice cream or pizza party for the class with the highest participation), the class organizing the campaign cannot be eligible for the prize, but instead should be the providers of the prize.

Grant submissions may be partially funded.

Grants will be awarded until all allocated funds are disbursed.

Application Deadline
Grants will be awarded on a rolling basis.

Grant awards will be deposited in the school account within two weeks of approval.

Application Requirements
Complete the application below.

Verification

By May 31, grant recipients are required to provide to the Enrichment Fund:
1. All relevant receipts for the project.
2. A brief evaluation of the project. Please note that, if possible, we would like pictures (that we can post on the website) sent to efservicegrant@enrichmentfund.org.
3. A reimbursement check for all unused funds.

Failure to adhere to these rules will result in the grant recipient being ineligible for future grants.
