The Enrichment Fund for Guilford County Schools is offering a special funding opportunity before the holidays using Donors Choose to make it easier and faster for teachers to find funding. GCS teachers who submit a hands-on, creative classroom project for funding on Donors Choose by December 14 will be eligible for a mini-grant boost of up to $250.
How does it work?
First, come up with a creative project you would like to do with your students, something that supplements the regular classroom curriculum and stimulates academic growth. Examples of past successful grants include funding for: materials to build a windmill to supplement reading The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind; a dinosaur dig with buried (cardboard) bones that had to be found and assembled; a classroom “zoo” of small animals to be cared for and studied. While funds will not be awarded to have an ice cream party, funds could be awarded for the ingredients for students to make ice cream and learn about change, temperatures, salt, etc.
Second, submit your project through Donors Choose. Enrichment Fund volunteers will review all projects submitted by Guilford County Schools teachers by December 14 and they will award grants of up to $250 for those that qualify. You do not need to do anything beyond the Donors Choose application.
Donors Choose
When will you know if you received a grant?
All grants will be awarded on December 15.
Anything else to know?
The Enrichment Fund will make funding decisions based on the criteria set forward by the board of directors and listed above. Grants will not be awarded for performers, workshop leaders, tablets, computers, furniture, transportation, prepared food, supply lists, or instructional kits. Software purchases, including licenses and subscriptions, will only be considered if the software clearly enriches learning experiences.
Grants may be partially funded.
Share Your Success
The Enrichment Fund may share your project on social media to help you get more donors or simply to celebrate your success!
In addition, please send photos of your project in action to minigrants@enrichmentfund.org so that we can share them with our board, donors and followers.
We love to hear from our grantees!
